For long suffering fans of the New York Knicks, June 13th of 2026 was a truly momentous occasion. On this date, the Knicks won the NBA Championship for the first time since 1973. A fifty-three year drought was finally eradicated.
I was in NYC for the dates of the Knicks' home games. On the evening of June 5th I made my way down to Madison Square Garden (MSG) to soak up the vibes with my fellow NY'ers. The energy in the streets around the arena was buzzing with hyped up Knicks fans. Love for the Knicks and NYC pride permeated the crowd.
Towering over the intersection of 34th Street and 7th Avenue a giant video-screen billboard was displaying a Nike ad campaign featuring famous New York Knicks fans. All of the images were cool. Rya's was one of the coolest.
