0002 : Dopepics Archive

I have an archive of photographs that dates back to the 1990's. Until now, I have not previously shared the overwhelming majority of these images publicly. WTF, there is no time like the present!

As an archivist, I rate myself a solid B+. Over the years I have managed to hold on to a high-percentage of my black & white negatives but regrettably, not all of them. What I do have are mostly in plastic sleeves and stored in 3-ring binders or envelopes. They have aged well.

I also have a few hundred 5"x7" and 11"x14" photographs which I printed in my home darkroom or at a professional darkroom I would rent by the hour or day when I wanted to make a lot of prints. Over time, I may make some of these prints available for sale on Dopepics.

To kick off Dopepics' Archive series I have added three images to this blog post.

01. Sister Triple Happiness | East Village, NYC | 1989

This photograph is from the very first roll of film that I ever developed. I took the photo while walking from my apartment in the east village to my school's darkroom on 5th Ave / 12th St.

02. Samoa Moriki of VHOKB | Mason Jar | Phoenix, Arizona | 1994

The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black were a truly unique and original art-rock band whose shows featured costumed band members, dancers wearing nothing but paint, and lo-fi props. I was lucky enough to photograph them on a number of occasions.

03. Most Beautiful Girls | New Orleans, Louisiana | 2000

On a roadtrip from Phoenix to New York we stopped to soak up some nightlife in New Orleans.
